Which Bibles are included
Sophia does not keep a private copy of Scripture. The reader opens texts from public libraries, and the verse on the page is the text those libraries provide.
Free-use Bibles
Most of the library comes from the HelloAO Free Use Bible API: more than a thousand translations across many languages. English editions you can open immediately include the Berean Standard Bible, the King James Version, the World English Bible, the American Standard Version, and others in the version list.
Some translations cover the New Testament only, or use a book order that differs from a Protestant Bible. The reader opens the books that translation actually contains.
Tanakh
The Jewish Publication Society 1917 English Tanakh and the Hebrew text come from Sefaria. Those editions follow the Jewish canon, including chapter counts such as Joel 4 and Malachi 3.
Qur'an
Separate from the Bible library, Sophia can open the Qur'an in Arabic and in the English translations of Marmaduke Pickthall, Sahih International, and Abdullah Yusuf Ali.
Editions that are not included
The New International Version, English Standard Version, Christian Standard Bible, New American Standard Bible, New King James Version, New Living Translation, The Message, and the Amplified Bible are not offered. They appear only if a license is actually in place.
